How can I make Yahoo Mail my default email program. Internet Options “Email Programs” doesn’t list Yahoo Mail


IE 7, Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab, “email” only lists the stand alone email programs like Outlook, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook Express. Can Yahoo mail be used as the default email program?

    Unfortunately, you cannot do it directly. Yahoo does not have that facility. However, there is a small but inconvenient workaround that’s given in the Yahoo! Mail tutorials. Check

    There is an easier way than using the POP “solution”. Much easier–here’s how.

    Download (or–RE-download) Messenger—all of it—and that puts Yahoo on the list, as one of the choices–(at—Tools>>Internet Options>>”programs” tab). Now, go back and choose Yahoo mail—apply and ok.

    You can always remove Messenger, later, if you don’t want it, without affecting the setting
